The Mindanao Climate Justice Resource Facility Inc. (MCJ) has made considerable progress in building resilience and capacity over the previous six months, thanks to critical support from our partner, the Samdhana Institute. This partnership has been essential in assisting MCJ in navigating Mindanao’s complex civic space and climate challenges, ensuring regulatory compliance, and expanding our operations.
Compliance and Transparency: MCJ has adhered to the strict regulations set by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), local government units (LGUs), and commercial banks, with the support of financial and legal professionals. This not only improves our compliance but also strengthens our commitment to transparency and accountability.
Safety and Wellbeing: We’ve made significant progress in increasing our team’s protection and safety procedures. Under the supervision of psychologists like Dr. Reggie Pamugas and Meg Yarcia, we created a safer and more supportive work environment. Our staff now feel more secure and valued, which is important for their well-being and productivity.
Organizational Assessments: Conducting a comprehensive organizational needs and risk assessment was transformative for us. It inspired the introduction of safe space standards at MCJ, resulting in a professional environment where everyone feels supported and comfortable.
Building Capacity: We have been tremendously pleased to expand our capacity-building operations to partner organizations and communities throughout Mindanao. These initiatives have expanded our network’s resilience and capability, allowing new organizations to join us in the fight for climate justice.
Looking Forward: To preserve these results, MCJ has developed a rigorous follow-up strategy. This includes ongoing training, strategic partnership building, financial stability, community engagement, and the adoption of rigorous monitoring and assessment methods. We are determined to maintain our success while adapting to future challenges.
